Ted Kennedy was honored at the Irish Heritage and Cultural celebration at City Hall for the Thomas Manton Irish Man of the Year Award accepted by Caroline Kennedy. The Keltic Dreams dancers, an all black children’s group, performed. Their message was,” No matter what race or color, you can achieve your dreams in America.” It was a delightful evening. ELDER ABUSE We have finally passed laws against domestic violence and child abuse which are so necessary and needed, and we have even passed laws to protect our animals and pets from abuse, but have we forgotten about our elderly?

Most elderly do have devoted sons and daughters and grandchildren and family, but there are many, 11% of our nation’s population who have been financially exploited, neglected, ignored and even physically abused by family members and /or perpetrators, even to the point to cause death. It is about time we help the victims who may be too elderly or ill to help themselves and bring these offenders to justice.

You and I have the ability to bring about change and rescue our dear elderly who have sacrificed their lives for us. They deserve our love, respect and safety from those who harm them. We can do something about this sinful situation by persuading congress to pass the Elder Justice Act this year.

The Toy show at the Javit’s was something to see. The tech toys blew

Pregnant? my mind. The kids today are going to be so smart. They can’t help it with all the video games and technologies at hand. Brainy Baby is one where you can interact with the TV or computer and teaches your 6 month old to talk back to you. It is amazing. Folkmanis Puppets’ Chameleon that sticks it’s eellike tongue at you and rolls its bulgy eyes and brings on a fit a laughter. Silly Puppets with Oscar is an ancient cloth animal which turns into two by the pull of the zipper; Dr. Toy Smart Toy /Play Toy Geo Puzzles of countries all over the globe teaches youngsters the nations of the world. It was a great show with many, many more affordable, funny and entertaining items..

Alitalia Gala was at the Marriott Marquis and filled the ballroom with vintage wines from Italy and buffet food tables for tasting. The public is invited for a price.

It was a beautiful day for the annual Rockaway St. Patrick’s Day Parade which is always a sure sign of spring. Sorry I couldn’t be there, but did you see Vincent Hogan among Mayor Bloomberg and other dignitaries? He grew up and was raised in Belle Harbor and came from Savanna, Georgia, where he is now Mayor Pro Tiem. Glad to see you back in the Rockaways and good luck in your political career.

My son, Kevin Matuozzi, presently living in San Diego, is coming back to

NYC for a short visit with his wife,

Julie, and daughters, Samantha and Pregnant? Beth. Naturally, I am anxious to see them.

Remember BIG JACK? I am talking about Jack Crowley, my cousin, past Fire Chief who more or less gave his life for his volunteer services in the Breezy Point Fire Department. and had he lived he would have been 86 on March 11, 2010. He was a big guy, Jack, and his heart was a big as he was. He died of lung cancer and, I am sure his work in the Fire Department didn’t help his condition. Let’s take a time to stop and say a prayer of thanks for Jack Crowley for the work he did for his community. He will not be forgotten.
