PS256 Grants More Wishes

On Superbowl Sunday, thousands of Long Beach Polar Bears dove into the frosty water to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for sick children and their families

By selling Polar Bear Sweatshirts, P.S. 256 staff raised $2200 for the Make- A-Wish foundation, which the volunteers say is very important to them. The motto at P.S. 256 is “Kids First” and can be seen on all letterheads from their school.

P.S. 256 is led by principal Oswaldo Roman and his assistants, Susan McNulty, Lotrell Granger, Kris Melbourne, and Ellen Kaplan (who was an actual Polar Bear Plunger.

Last year, more than $370,000 was raised by the foundation, and 47 wishes were granted for sick children and their families.
