SJBC Angels Begin Registration For Spring Baseball Season

St. John’s Baptist Church has announced tryouts and registration for the upcoming spring baseball season. The SJBC Angels baseball invite players from the ages of 5 to 16 years old to come out and showcase your skills to help the SJBC Angels baseball team make it to the Little League World Series.

Registration will be held on each Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. until Friday, March 26. It will be held at St. John’s Baptist Church on 74-05 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Arverne. The season begins on Saturday, April 3.

The league age groups are as follows; 5 and 6 year olds will play in the Tee- Ball Division; 7-9 years old will play in this division. Many of the players in this league have played t-ball before and are ready to understand the rules of baseball and to concentrate on their skills in throwing, catching, running and hitting.

10-12 year old players in this division will play a minimum of two innings in the outfield and two innings in the infield. Players will continue to emphasize the basic skills of throwing, catching, running and hitting.

13-14 year old players who compete in this division will play with rules and field dimensions similar to Major League Baseball. It will be similar for the 15 and 16 year old players who compete in this division. For more information, call Deacon Willie Tipton, league commissioner, at 718-634-7192.
