Fond Farewell To A Rockaway Friend
The following letter was sent to LeRoy Temple, who recently retired from city service. The letter is reprinted here at the request of the writer.
On behalf of the Gateway Bike & Boathouse and all advocates of increased water access in Rockaway and Broad Channel, I would like to express our profound gratitude for your support.
As Parks and Recreation Manager in Rockaway Beach you have demonstrated leadership, professionalism and creativity in your tireless attempt to enhance the quality of how the community interacts with our water and beaches.
No matter what heights you might attain in NYC Parks and Recreation or elsewhere, we will never forget your forward thinking, enthusiasm, commitment and “can-do attitude” in the face of countless challenges and the relentless NYC bureaucracy.
We are sorry to see you go, but recognize that you will soon be applying your unique talents in another community. It is our loss and their gain. We’re confident that your successor, Roy Tellason, will follow in your footsteps. You have created a legacy here that you should be proud of.
Best of Luck in the Future!
