Leon Russell To Perform At Westbury
Leon Russell, with special guests The Radiators and Uncle Lucius, will perform at the Theatre at Westbury on Friday, March 5 at 8 p.m. Russell is a music legend and an accomplished and versatile musician in the history of rock ‘n roll. In his distinguished and unique 50 year career, he has played on, arranged, written and/or produced some of the best records in popular music.
Among his greatest hits are “Tightrope,” “A Song For You,” “Lady Blue,” “Delta Lady,” “Back On the Island” and “Roll Away the Stone.”
The Radiators combine their traditional hometown, New Orleans style with more mainstream rock and R&B. Described by OffBeat Magazine as “New Orleans’ longest-running and most successful rock band,” they continue to create a type of swamp-rock which they call fish-head music. The Radiators had a number of singles on Billboard’s mainstream rock chart including “Doctor, Doctor,” “Like Dreams Do” and “Confidential.” While the Radiators have more than 300 original songs, they’re just as well known for their covers of some of the great southern musicians such as Muddy Waters and Ray Charles.
