Approximately 100 officers from several bureaus, including housing, transit and patrol flooded the area from Hammel Houses to the Nassau County border in an attempt to catch wanted individuals. Taking part in the operation were Deputy Inspectors Brian McMahon and Thomas Barrett of the 101 and 100 Precincts respectively.

Operation Impact targets high crime areas or places where crime has increased. It has been credited with drops in city crime statistics in the last few years.
Officers were stationed near Goldie Maple Academy at Beach 57 Street and Beach Channel Drive blocking the entrance to the street during the operation.
