Drunk Driver Arrested After Crash
James Grant, 52, who lives along Seagirt Boulevard, was driving a white Ford Taurus at 5:30 a.m. on February 8 near West 17 Road when it jumped the curb and smashed into the lamppost, police said.
“I was drinking because I had an argument with my wife,” is what he told police when they found him slumped over his wheel. Inside the vehicle, police found an open 40-ounce bottle of beer on the passenger-side floor, according to court papers.
A breath test determined his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. Therefore, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on March 23.
