Mary McClendon Green

Housekeeper

Mary McClendon Green, 61, a longtime Rockaway resident, died February 3.

Green was born September 23, 1948, in Tarrytown, Georgia. She was a member of Wings of Faith Church under Bishop Warren C. Shivers. She sang in the choir, ushered, served Pastor Shivers, had a dance ministry, and was active in the usher’s ministry, performing usher duties at several churches as needed.

Green is preceded in death by her father, David McClendon Sr.; brother, David McClendon Jr.; sister, Monique (Nickie) Wilkins; nephew, Joseph; aunt, Clara; uncle, Billy; sister-in-law, Denise Williams; and brother-in-law, Lorenzo Simmons.

She is survived by her two sons, Derrick and Eric McClendon; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; mother, Frances Wilkins; four sisters, Elder Bernice Smith, Terry McClendon, Sharon Chandler (Otis), and Vanetta Huggins (Durrell); four brothers, Harry (Denise), Dennis, Anthony and Dan; brother-in-law, Cookie Green; a host of nieces and nephews; family members, Priscilla Anderson and Curtis Smith; three sisters-in-law, Linda Green, Fay and Susan; Bishop Dolores Smalls; mentors, Bishop Shivers and Wings of Faith Church family; and Bishop Townsley and St. Marks church Family.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A memorial service was held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Rockaway Beach. Interment took place at Forest Park Cemetery, Morganville, New Jersey.
