Leola Gordon, 91, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 27.
Gordon was born on October 18, 1918 in Abbeville, South Carolina.
Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, George Gordon; son, Willie Lee Crawford (Martha); sisters, Johnnie Mae Smith and Alberta Crawford; brothers, Carvin Crawford Sr. and Andrew Crawford Sr.; niece, Ella Francis Johnson; nephew, Harold Smith Jr.; grand-nephews, Darrell Shahiem Smith and Jessie Johnson; grand-niece, Joyce Bell; great-grand, nephew Shahiem Mays.
She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Smith of Far Rockaway; granddaughters, Angela Crawford-Morrow (Ricardo) of Beltsville, Maryland and Sharon Tucker of Fort Washington, Maryland; grandsons, Michael Crawford of Olympia, Washington and Richard Crawford; great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Brandon, Shannon, Christopher and Alexandra; sister, Ellawee Lomax of Abbeville, South Carolina; nieces, Catherine Towns of Somerset, New Jersey; Iva Lee Smith of Due West, South Carolina, Dorothy Payne of Far Rockaway and Clara Markay of Abbeville, South Carolina; nephews, Leroy Smith of Due West, South Carolina, Andrew Smith of Gastonia, North Carolina and Carvin Crawford Jr., of Inwood, New York; and great-nephew, James Smith.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Disposition took place at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
