James Troy Clark
James Troy Clark, 88, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 8.
Clark was born on January 18, 1921 in Taylorsville, North Carolina and served in the United States Navy on aircraft carriers USS Yorktown and Saratoga during World War II. James served four years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He later worked a painter.
Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Annie Royal.
He is survived by his children, Cora McDonald of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Lester and Sharon Clark of Inwood, New York, Mary Clark of Far Rockaway and Wayne Clark of Roosevelt, New York; brother, Tommy Clark of Spartanburg, South Carolina; stepsister, Alberta Howe of Winston Salem, North Carolina; nine grandchildren with one on the way; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
