Free Child Care Training On The Rock
The Business Outreach Center Network, Inc. (BOC) in collaboration with the Blanche Community Progressive Day Care offers a free child care business development training course to individuals who are starting or expanding an in-home child care business. This free training is provided by BOC through their Child Care Means Business program, which helps licensed or unlicensed home-based child care providers plan and run a successful and well-managed child care business by offering a nine-week, 45-hour comprehensive program of business training and professional support.
Home-based child care providers are fully licensed and inspected by New York State and must complete 30 hours of child care education and training every two years.
Child Care Means Business training offers 12 hours in the area of business, child daycare development and communication that can be used towards the hours required by New York State. The training curriculum discusses four topics: success planning, marketing, finance, and operations. The curriculum is designed to help providers plan for a successful business, market their programs, to enroll more children, manage the money in their business to meet their needs, get paid for the work that they do, and much more.
Sandra Livingstone, a licensed group daycare provider who graduated from the child care training, says that the class was instrumental in helping her promote a successful home base business in child care.
Licensed family or group daycare providers, and individuals who are in the process of applying for their family or group daycare license are eligible to apply for a space in the training program. Open enrollment has begun for the next training class. Child care training classes will be held on Monday and Thursday nights starting Monday, March 1, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Blanche Daycare Center. SPACE IS LIMITED.
