City Sets CERT Training

The city’s Office of Emergency Management has announced that it will hold a series of training sessions for local residents interested in becoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members.

CERT teams are comprised of residents who are trained to respond to emergency situations and disasters such as terrorist attacks and hurricanes.

The 10-week basic training program for CERT members includes the city’s incident command system, building evacuation, utility emergencies, transportation emergencies, medical operations in a disaster, fire safety, search and rescue, traffic safety and terrorism awareness.

The training sessions will be held at the Peninsula Hospital Center’s Meditation Room, 51-15 Beach Channel Drive, on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. from March 3 until May 12.
