Busted For Cruising Drunk

Had Prior Conviction

A woman with a prior conviction for driving under the influence was arrested in Rockaway Beach for again driving drunk with an open bottle of vodka, police said.

Bessie Bass, 55, of 8200 Shore Front Parkway, was stopped by police at the intersection of Beach 84 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard at 1:30 a.m. on January 24 when she failed to signal upon changing lanes, according to police.

Officers said they noticed that Bass slurred her words and stumbled when asked to exit her vehicle. Upon inspection, cops found two open bottles of vodka in the front passenger seat of her 1997 Toyota.

Bass was convicted in 2006 for driving drunk. Upon her recent arrest she was again charged for driving under the influence, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. She is expected back in court on February 8.
