St. Rose Basketball Team Continues Winning Streak
St. Rose Fourth Grade Pee Wee boys CYO basketball team is starting the second half of the season strong with four weeks of big wins.
On January 9, the boys traveled to Brooklyn to play OLG. Petiri Edmond led the team with 12 points, Charlie Bostwick scored six points, Gavin Rogers had four points and Justin Baronowski threw two points on the board with first basket for the season. Great defense was played by Angelo Fenty, Bryan Bostwick, Sam Amato, Peter Delfeuse and Liam Malsy. St. Rose won 24 -8 over OLG.
On January 10, the boys played Blessed Trinity on the road. Malsy, Amato, Rogers, Baronowski and Angelo Fenty and Bryan Bostwick held Blessed Trinity down to scoring only eight points. Edmond dominated the game with scoring 14 points, Delfeuse scored his first basket for the season, and Charlie Bostwick put two points on the board in the fourth quarter for a St. Rose win of 18-8.
On January 16, the boys played with a home town crowd cheering them on to a 31-6 win over St. Thomas. Bryan Bostwick swished in his first two points of the season. Liam Malsy shot in two points, Charlie Bostwick put nine points on the board and Edmond exploded with four steals and shooting in 16 points. Once again the great defense of Sam Amato, Michael Reardon, Fenty, Gavin Rogers, Delfeuse and Baronowski held the St. Thomas to only score six points.
On January 30, the boys traveled uptown to face SFDS (gold) on the road. The game was close throughout as St. Rose won 23-16.
Edmond played a great defense and on offense by scoring 11 points, Charlie Bostwick erupted in the fourth quarter with scoring 10 of his 12 points.
Amato, Bryan Bostwick and Reardon assisted the shooters with the 23 point victory. The defense was led by Liam Malsy, who helped to shut down SFDS’s game. Great rebounding by the St. Rose forwards Fenty, Gavin Rogers, Peter Delfeus and Justin Baronowski held SFDS to scoring only 16 points.
