Williams Advances to Colgate Games At The Garden

By Elio Velez

Jetiea Williams is more than ready to compete in the World’s Most Famous Arena on Saturday morning.

The Far Rockaway/FDA VI indoor track and field runner will compete against five others in the 55 meter finals at the 36th Annual Colgate Women’s Games.

Williams, who is 16 years old and a junior at FDV VI, which is located inside the Far Rockaway Campus, qualified for the event over a span of five weeks at Pratt University in Brooklyn.

“It’s been great. This is so special,” Williams said.

The best times were calculated and six runners out of the 60 who entered will compete at the Garden on Saturday.

Williams will compete against familiar faces such as Cha-mique Francis of Cardozo and Precious Jackson of Jamaica High School.

“I know I have been practicing hard the whole time. I’m not worried about who I go against.

I know I’m here for a reason,” Williams said.
