Shame On You

Dear Editor,

As a Rockaway resident I pass Buster’s Marina in Broad Channel every day on my way to work. I pass it in the rain, the snow, and the frigid temperatures. Every day I pass Buster’s, no matter what time of day, I always see a dog in their yard. It’s a beautiful dog, although the poor thing is dirty and tied to the back of a boat. I guess the owner thinks that the plywood doghouse that he provided the dog with is good enough for the cold winter months and the inclement weather. I don’t really understand how the owner of Buster’s Marina could think that this is okay. I’m sure he’ll say that the dog likes to be outside. Well how would the poor thing know any different if that’s what the dog has been used to? How does he put his head on his pillow at night and not feel guilty. Maybe he might want to invest in an alarm system for his business and start treating this dog humanely.
