High School Roundup: Dolphins Improve Win Streak

Beach Channel’s win streak improved to three games with a 58-52 home win on Tuesday afternoon over Flushing.

The Dolphins (7-4) leaped to third place in the Queens AA Division as Kevin Marmolejos scored 19 points and Chris - topher Thompson added 14.

Beach Channel will have played one more game at presstime against Bayside as the PSAL takes a week off due to mid-term tests.

Springfield Gardens outscored Far Rockaway 13-2 in the third quarter as the host Golden Eagles (13-2) won 49-43 in a Queens A East Divisional matchup on Wednesday. The Sea horses fell to 7-7 and will host Newtown today at 4:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Tajah Monroe scored a game high 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to power Far Rockaway to a 53-37 victory over Robert F. Kennedy on Tuesday. Monroe has averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds this season for the Lady Seahorses (5-8, Queens B East Division).

Rebecca Moers scored 21 points as the Scholars Academy lost to Forest Hills, 59-39, on Tuesday. Scholars are now 7-6 and are in fifth place in the Queens B East Division.

Francis Lewis stormed out to a 33-18 lead at halftime and cruised to a 68-33 win over Beach Channel on Wednes-day afternoon. The Patriots improved to 9-1 in the Queens AA Division. Tiaira Brathwaite scored 10 points as Beach Channel fell to 3-6.
