From The Councilman’s Desk
I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for re-electing me to a full, four-year term as your representative in the New York City Council. This past election was a hard fought battle, but now that it is behind us, I can focus all of my energy into doing the work of the people in my district.
The voters of this district have placed their trust in me and I hold their trust in the highest regard. I look forward to working every day over the next four years, to live up to the expectations that the people have placed upon me. While we have accomplished so much in such a short period of time, I realize that there is still plenty of work to do.
In thinking about some of the challenges I must confront in the next term, I am comforted by the words of the late Mother Teresa, “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.” The job of a City Council Member is simply that: a labor of love. In my opinion, there is no higher calling than public service. During the campaign I was reluctant to make promises that I could not keep. Instead I only pledged to work hard to accomplish the goals that we had set forth. One promise that I will make is that I will continue to fight just as hard for you in the months and years to come. I am pleased that I have been able to help constituents on a case by case basis and I will make sure that my office continues to be a resource for constituent services.
Working together, we can achieve progress and prosperity because I believe that when elected officials partner with the communities they serve, the dream of a brighter future for everyone becomes a reality. I am working to fulfill that dream, and I hope that you will join me in ushering in our best days which are still to come. If there is anything I can do, or if there are any concerns, questions or thoughts you have, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.
