St. Rose Team Continues Hot Winning Streak

The St. Rose Fifth Grade boys are off to a 5-0 start. The first weekend of the season brought the first two wins over St. Raphael’s 26-6 and OLMM 30-20. The scoring was led by Isaiah Brown with 10 points; CJ Gallagher and Thomas Collins contributed with 8 points each. The defense was led by Kieran Mills, Dennis Cortez, Sebas - tian Sheppard, Thomas Rogers, Keith Servello, Christian Pires, Matt Scho - en feld and Michael Mure.

Game 2 saw St. Rose jump to an early lead led by Isaiah Brown with 18 points. On November, 22 St. Rose traveled to St. Pancreas with a shorthanded team led by Coach Walsh. They had a hard fought 20-18 win. The team had good play from all, especially Servello and Schoenfeld, with 6 points each and a big basket from Pires.

On November 29, the team traveled to St. Adalbert’s to capture their fourth straight win, 24-8. The team was led by Gallagher’s 10 points and another big basket by Mure. The last game be - fore the Christmas break was the team’s toughest and most hard fought win. Holy Trinity from Breezy Point came out in a full court man to man press and scored a quick 6 points.

St. Rose quickly regrouped led by the ball handling of Brown, Gallagher, Servillo, Mure and Cortez. Strong re - bounding and defensive play was led by Collins, Schoenfeld, Mills, Shep - pard and Pires. St. Rose was victorious winning 20-12. The team’s staff and supporters ask that you come out to see St. Rose after the break as most of the team’s games will be at home.
