Sincerest Thanks

Dear Editor,

The New York Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foun - dation (JDRF) would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the entire Rockaway Community for its support of the Mure Family’s holiday fundraising endeavor, the 2009 “Little North Pole,” which took place in December.

Over $190,000 was collected during the holiday season and all funds raised through this event go directly to support the ef - forts of JDRF and diabetes treatment “ centers. JDRF would like to recognize the Mure Family for their hard work and dedication toward finding a cure for diabetes as well as the residents and merchants of the Rockaway Com - mun ity and the NYPD and FDNY for their continuing support. The success of this event is a true testament to the spirit of the Rockaways.

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of re search. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research. JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most maj or scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. In fact, JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.

Thank you again for your generous support and we look forward to another great “Little North Pole” event in 2010.
