Far Rockaway Man Drug Busted Upstate

By Nicholas Briano

A Far Rockaway man who goes by the name “Money” was arrested last week for allegedly selling crack cocaine to an undercover police officer in Hudson Falls, New York, according to published reports.

Police acted on a tip that Hector Colon, 30, from Far Rockaway was in the area selling the drugs, according to Hudson Falls Police Detective Scott Gillis. Police called Colon’s cell phone and asked him to meet in a local shopping center parking lot. Falling into the trap, Colon showed up at the parking lot with a one-gram piece of crack cocaine hidden in a small plastic bag in his mouth. Police say dealers put the drugs in their mouths to quickly swallow them if confronted by authorities.

Detective Gillis, however, said he saw Colon moving something around in his mouth and grabbed him by the neck, discovering the drugs that Colon was unable to swallow. Colon was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felony counts. He was arraigned in Hudson Falls Village Court and was sent to Washington County Jail after failing to post bail. He reportedly has outstanding warrants in Columbia County and at least two other downstate areas, which could bring more charges in the coming weeks.
