‘A’ Line Shut Down For Hour

High Winds Lead to Signal Problems
By Nicholas Briano

The ‘A’ line going into Rockaway was shut down during the rush hour peak on Tuesday night when the high winds caused signal problems on the tracks. According to New York City Transit officials the signal problem occurred at 5:48 p.m. and wasn’t resolved until an hour later at 6:58 p.m. Service starting at Broad Channel was suspended during those times, forcing residents to wait more than an hour and a half for a train into Rockaway. In some cases commuters in Rockaway Beach were advised to leave the platforms and take the Rockaway Beach Boulevard bus line to travel along the peninsula.
