Richards, McMikle Receive NAACP Awards

Donovan Richards, the acting chief of staff for Council man James Sanders Jr., and Jacqueline McMikle, the president of the Arverne Cancer Sup - port Group, were among the honorees at a luncheon held by the Far Rockaway branch of the NAACP last weekend at Carnucapia in Arverne. Richards was recognized for his ongoing work with the youth of Rockaway, receiving the Youth Service Award. McMikle was presented with the Health Service Award. Other honorees were the Rev. Arthur Daven - port of the First Church of God, who was given the Pastors for Pastors Award and District Leader Lew Simon, who was the Community Service Award winner. A special award was presented to Assembly - woman Michele Titus for her devotion to day care centers in the area. Davenport and Simon were not able to attend the luncheon.
