"Paradise," acrylic painting on canvas panel by Amanda Francin; one of the works on display through Dec. 13 in "Gifted" at RoCA, Fort Tilden. A belated thank you from those involved in the November 28 evening reception for "Glass and Water" to "Fast Break" on Beach 116 Street for their delicious contribution to the event. This Saturday and Sunday, Decem ber 12 and 13, are the final to dates to see "Gifted," displaying the work of 26 RAA members, in sTudio 6 Gallery. See gray box for hours, etc.

Sunday, December 13, at 1:30 p.m. in sTudio 6, Dan Guarino will host "An Afternoon of Music and Words." Guarino is RAA's very own musician/ sing author/poet/photographer. Why, he has more diagonal slashes than the New York Times website. After entertaining the throng with his original songs and poetry, and introducing (and gigging with) other similarly talented souls, the Renaissance man of Broad Channel/Rockaway will host the next meeting of the RAA Writers Group at 4 p.m. in the very same sTudio 6. A giving fellow, Mr. G steps out of the limelight to allow the talented members of the group to shine. And encourages even the shyest newcomers and nonmembers to read their work and benefit from the constructive feedback of the other attendees. And no pressure to read.

You may ask someone else to read your work so you can listen to it yourself, or just sit and listen to the writings of others, in a variety of genres. You don't even have to be a writer to sit in on the meeting.

All are welcome.

You still have a chance to buy a ticket for RAA's first-ever annual raffle. You can buy a ticket or tickets at the galleries during exhibition hours, in the RAA office or at the holiday party. Here's your chance to win fine artwork and contribute to RAA, as well.

RAA's holiday party and elections for the 2010 board of directors are Mon - day, December 14, at 7:30 p.m., in sTudio 7 Gallery. You must have paid membership dues in 2009 to be eligible to vote. The nominations are in and the names are on the ballot.

Ballots will be available upon request in ad vance of the election, as an absentee ballot. For deadlines and details contact RAA.

There are five candidates running for four available seats (two are running for reelection, three are new candidates). A "Get To Know Your Can - didates" email was sent out to members. You should read it.

Written by each candidate, it provides a profile of their interests, skills, goals and qualifications.

Music and refreshments will be part of the evening.

You may bring refreshments to share. As it is each year, a highlight of the holiday party will be the exciting, exhilarating, extremely popular Grab Bag. The Grab Bag operates on the principle that it is better to give and to receive. Bring an item for which you no longer have use (or for which you never had any use, but couldn't throw out because your partner would see, and you got the gift from her/his mother) or which is a really nice gift you want to share with others.

Wrap it up 'pretty' and place it on the Grab Bag table. This entitles you to take a lovely-looking package already there. It's a crap shoot, but some very nice surprises have been received in the process. Honest.

Happy Chanukkah.
