Joy Stephensen

Rehabilitation Assistant

Joy Stephensen, a longtime Rockaway resident, died November 16.

Stephensen was born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 10, 1956 and worked as a rehabilitation assistant. She immigrated to the United States in 1992, earned her high school diploma and later worked at United Cerebral Palsy for more than 16 years.

She is survived by her children, Marlene, Prudence, Brendon and school diploma and later worked at United Cerebral Palsy for more than 16 years.

She is survived by her children, Marlene, Prudence, Brendon and Yommaine; grandchildren, Safa and Alexia; sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a host of loving friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A memorial service was held at Solid Rock Seven Day Adventist Church, Arverne. Interment took place at Trinity St. John's Cemetery, Hewlett, New York.
