Pee Wee White Shamrocks Advance To Semi-Finals
The BCAC Pee Wee White Shamrocks came to play Sunday afternoon at the Broad Channel Memorial Field and left on the winning side of a 26- 12 game against the Black Knights of Amityville in the opening playoff round of the NSFL. The field was muddy, but it didn't stop the White Shamrocks from opening up a 26-0 lead over the visitors after the first three quarters.
Dillon Ostrander had a long touchdown run and Ian Byrne added two more, but it was Patrick Murphy dazzling the crowded bleachers with some fancy footwork on a 55-yard touchdown run.
Murphy scored utilizing an open lane through which to run with the help of the veteran offensive line of James Agoglia, Mikey Butkiewicz, Jack Tan - sey, Pete Meehan, Matty Schmitt and Jack Ward. Key blocks from QB Jack Collins and James Tuohey opened the sidelines as Murphy sliced and diced his way, avoiding three would-be tackles, to the Shamrocks end-zone.
The BCAC defense, led by Dominick Maiorano, Matty McDonagh, Robbie Agoglia, Peter Maiorano, Brendan Petronis, Nick Meehan and Damien Stathis played well despite missing Christian Agoglia with the flu.
"It was probably the best game we've played all year," Coach Rob Schmitt said. "We just played great on both sides of the ball and did the things we needed to do to win."
The Shamrocks invite all to come out and cheer the boys on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Broad Channel Memorial Field. The White Shamrocks are one win away from the Super Bowl. The team and staff For more details, check out www.nsfl.com.
