Georgia Chandler, a longtime Rockaway resident, died November 9.
Chandler was born September 18, 1960, in West Point, Mississippi. She attended the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the late Rev. Dr. Thomas F. Mason. She attended Public School 42, Junior High School 198 and Beach Channel High School. She later attended Job Corps in Pennsylvania where she learned carpentry.
She is survived by her mother Rosie Lee; daughter, Malinda; sister, Shirley Oliphant; brother, M.C. Chandler (Carolyn) Jr.; nephews, M.C. Kaheem, Elton, Robert and M.C. Kareem; nieces, Kimberly and Allison; aunts, Susie Johnson, Dela Nance (Levy) of Tennessee, Classie Sykes (George Coleman) of Michigan, Susie Mae Jones and Bernice Chandler of Mississippi; uncles, Johnny Chandler (Jimmie) of Mississippi and Eddie Sykes (Kim) of Michigan; sister-in-law, Debra Chandler; and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah
C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Disposition took place at St. Michael's Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
