Thank You for Protecting and Serving

Dear Editor,

A few days ago I walked into a pizza restaurant and ordered two slices. While waiting a very sharp looking young man in military fatigues walked in behind me. I turned around and read the name on his shirt. It read Pfc. Jamison. He came in to visit his childhood friend. He grew up on the peninsula and stated he was heading to Afghanistan for his third tour. My heart sank. I will never forget his words. He said "somebody has to do this," and the lady standing next to me said "we will pray for you," then I said "yes, we sure will." Looking at this officer, I saw my son who is 13 years old, in the eighth grade and wants to be a police officer. It is amazing to me how the men and women in the military and law enforcement sacrifice their lives at such a young age to protect and serve ordinary people. He didn't say 'my first tour' or 'my second tour.' He said "my third tour." Pfc. Jamison has seriously opened my eyes to this fact. I am asking everybody to pray for Pfc. Jamison and his family along with all the men and women in the military. I believe God brought this officer into the pizza restaurant for a reason and I thank God for him. Pfc. Jamison you will al - ways, always be in my prayers and my family's prayers. Thank you for always being there and protecting all of us.
