On October 31, 2009, Peninsula Hospital Center celebrated its 102nd Anniversary at the El Caribe in Brooklyn, New York. The South Seas-themed event offered fine dining, live music, cultural elements from Polynesia, Tahiti and Hawaii, including leis, grass skirts and a Polynesian dance performance. Joel A. Miele Sr., P.E., Chairman of the Board, was joined by Ball Committee Member presenters in honoring Mrs. Lucy Salpeter, Trustee, Patron and long-time supporter of Peninsula Hospital Center, Olajide Olawepo, M.D., Director, Pediatric Department and Eunmi Kim, RN, PhD, Director of Critical Care Nursing at the Hospital Center. "These honorees exemplify long-time service and dedication to the Hospital Center," remarked Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are so grateful to each of them and it is our pleasure to highlight and celebrate their outstanding contributions." The proceeds of the occasion will be used to help fund Peninsula Hospital Center's new Cancer Care Center. Specifically, the purchase of a new CT Simulator and Linear Accelerator that will bring ground-breaking technology to the Rockaways and surrounding communities. The success of the event is thanks to the help of the Anniversary Ball Committee and all the hospital friends who attended and supported the very festive event.

Many of her peers came out to celebrate this well-deserved honor. Volunteers and Employees brought smiles to the guests as they welcomed everyone with a festive lei. Cardiologist Raul Mendoza, M.D. gets into the spirit of the evening by joining the professional dance troop for a dance. Peter A.
