Remembering Rockaway During WW II

The rifles held by the three young boys in this circa 1943 photograph tip off the fact that the world was at war and every body was well aware of that fact. At the time, the Denni fam ily lived at Beach 79 Street. This roof top photo was taken at their home. From left, Charles Denni, Con stant Denni (who brought us this photo) and Harry Denni. All three looked ready to take on the Axis. Return to top

This is just like me born in 1950 Rockaway Beach Hospital.
In 1968 I Joined the U.S. Coast Guard and came back from overseas 4 years later to run the Electronics shop at Coast Guard Station Group Rockaway. The building is still at the foot of the Marine Pkwy Bridge. All the way to Fire Island was my responsibility.
I could also include our Air Station Bklyn and Ambrose light .Long since wiped out in 1998 .
So I digress.
Hope your readers enjoy this.
