Beware of Hackers
News Events/Travel Editor/Host • WNYX - TV Morning News • 12:00 noon on UHF Chs. 35 & 26 Monday - Friday

Hackers are people who steal your identity on the internet. Be very, very careful not to give out any information on your computer. Friends of mine I hadn't heard from in years called me because they received an email I needed $1500.00. Even The Wave got a call. An email I received that said it was sent by my server, "Yahoo" asked for my information or they would terminate my service. Don't fall for that. It is a scam. It was not my server Yahoo at all. It was as scam. It was a hacker. So, do beware. DO NOT GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE INTERNET.

Had some interesting events around the city…..I visited the Oakwood Extension, 888 6th Avenue, a commercial building that was converted to apartments. There is a one room with full kitchen facilities and bath and two, two-bedroom suites on the penthouse floor. They are sleek and modern with beautiful views of the city. The minimum stay is 30 days and they are reasonably priced.

Australia had a tradeshow and presentation at the Pierre Hotel where we saw Sidney Harbor, the most beautiful harbor in the world, the rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef where the cruise ships take you to places like Fiji and nearby ports of call. I discovered the Bondi Resort, the greatest surfing beach in the world and Daydream Island Resort and Spa, 3 nights for $378 with balcony, buffet breakfast, spa, comp catamarans, paddle skis, wildfish feeding and more. It is here they have cruise ships to Fiji and nearby ports.

Over at the Millennium Hotel I enjoyed a beautiful presentation of Denmark/Sweden/Finland and Iceland from a well known, award winning photographer. The shots were spectacular. They were breathtakingly beautiful. And, why would you want to go to Iceland? They had a book on some of the "Crazy things to do in Iceland": swim in the Atlantic; Catch a Puffin, cutest bird in Iceland and very delicious; Get a FREE sleepover in one of their oldest houses in town; and more.

The next night the Dominican Republic was at Doubletree Hotel at 51 Street and Lexington Avenue. In Punta Cana you can have a Majestic Free Wedding; Golfing 7 nights, including air, all inclusive, 7 days $799.

For your next meeting and event, the Imperial at 17 West 19 Street is a nice spot. They have 2 large rooms, two open bars, nice, danceable music, (not unbearably loud); tasty pass- arounds: squash ravioli, fried shrimp, fried chicken with avocado dip, beef wellington and the best pizza I have ever had….paper thin crust, oodles of veggies and meat. Think about it for your next event.

Over at the Onassis Cultural Center, Olympic Tower, 345 5th Avenue more than 40 rare painting are on display …The Origins of El Greco: Icon paintings in Venetian Crete. They are just magnificent and well worth the trip to Manhattan. The exhibition will be on view from November 17 through February 27, 2010.

TRAVEL: Cayman Airways ..buy 2 get 1 FREE.; Las Vegas $109 RT; Turkey's Christmas Special: Magic Carpet, 10 days/9nts Dec. 23 - Jan 1 land only $1,499 pp…. 4-star hotels including 9 breakfasts, 6 dinners, 7 lunches, A/C, transportation from arrival to departure, entrance fees to all sites and museums; Istanbul to Ankara flight ticket, all airport transfers.
