Queens biggest business is its transportation infrastructure... planes, trains and highways...and the strategically most significant are our two airports. Queens Congressmen, though, Anthony Weiner, Gregory Meeks and Gary Ackerman, are so ideologically devoted to health-care's 'public option', they just don't have time to collaborate with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to improve our airports. And, it shows! JFK, the hub for 46 million commut - ers/year, is not even in the top five for FAA spending on airport im prove - ments. Amazingly, over the last five years the Seattle Tacoma airport re - ceived twice as much funding as JFK...and triple LaGuardia! The num bers are $235 million vs. $105 Letters million vs. $75 million. Now, that might be perfectly reasonable if JFK and LaGuardia were paragons of 21st Century aero technology; but, unfortunately, it's just the opposite as our airport systems are often noted as archaic and bordering on dangerous. And, just last week the on-time performance for our New York airports were rated worst in the nation.
Our Congressmen have been too busy placating their ACORN constituencies with the propagandization of the 'public option' to devote themselves to Queens and NYC im - provement. So too our newest US Senator, the Honorable Kirsten Gilli - brand, is also an ACORN aco lyte, as she was only one of seven US Sen ators voting NOT to censure ACORN.
Oh, and locally, the Democrat contender to represent the Rockaways in City Council is being supported by the Working Families Party and ACORN. Would he be an ACORN acolyte, too?
