Congratulations to everyone at The Wave for being named "Best Neighborhood Paper" by The Village Voice.
An unsolicited, no-strings-attached, and well-deserved pat on the back is the best kind of recognition there is in any trade, especially journalism. As I learned from you, the community is better served by a paper that dedicates its resources to coverage, not trying to win trophies. (There's too much politicking and too many entry fees anyhow.)
The daily papers "honor" The Wave by picking up its stories (after calling the editors to pick their brains and mine their sources), but they rarely give a nod - or attribution - in print. That's why it was so nice to see one newspaper spotlight another for a reason simple and sincere: for doing an outstanding job covering the community it serves.
Congratulations to all on a job well done - week in, week out, since 1893.
