The 28-year-old Arverne woman who was found guilty of manslaughter in the strangulation death of her father, whose body was discovered bound, gagged and mutilated inside her thirdfloor apartment, has been sentenced to five to fifteen years in prison. More...

An unidentified man, surfing at Beach 96 Street on Thursday morning, got caught up in the remains of the wood jetty and the ripcord that attached the surfboard to his leg was snagged on the rocks, holding him under water. FDNY divers quickly arrived on the scene and pulled him to the beach, but he was not breathing, sources say.
