Rockaway United Stands Tall In Victory Over Patriots

While taking a short break from trick or treating, the Rockaway Uni ted boys set the world on fire again this past weekend with a commanding 4-2 win over the Brooklyn Patriots.

Shortly after the kickoff, Jag Gui derelli let loose a booming curveball with his dangerous left leg that sail ed up and over the Patriots keeper.

Rockaway controlled the game from kickoff until the final whistle. They displayed nifty midfield passing throughout the game and once again had stellar play from the human shield in goal, Anthony Cimino.

The Patriots penetrated the Uni ted defense a few times and had great scoring opportunities. But near ly every time, Cimino snuffed out seemingly impossible one on ones. Connor Baldwin turned in his second two goal performance of the season with his pinpoint shooting.

John "The Barracuda" Baroudas netted his first goal of the season with some nimble moves, which allowed him to maneuver the ball deep into the box. He then exhibited a nice touch and put the ball past the Brooklyn keep - er easily.

The United boys are off to a torrid start at 3-0-1 and face a team from the 95-year old Gjoa Soccer Club on Saturday at Dyker Park.
