It Wasn't A Water Main Break

The corner of Newport Avenue and Beach 120 Street in Rockaway Park was completely inundated for a brief period of time during this past weekend's Nor'easter. The DEP was called, but no operation occurred to unclog the storm drain. The photos show the water level rose to completely cover the roadway at the high tides on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The roadway was back to normal within 20 minutes as the tide receded. There were reports that the area of Beach 90 Street was similarly flooded over the weekend. Photos by Vivian Carter.
