DOE Announces Middle School Fairs
The Department of Education has announced the schedule for middle school fairs in community school districts that offer middle school choice to students. The fairs began on October 13. Like last year, all districts will follow the same middle school admissions calendar. The placement criteria from previous years will remain in place in each district. Students will receive middle school applications at their elementary school in November and must return the completed application to their school by December 15. Students in Districts 17, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 30 who plan to apply to Academically Enriched Programs should submit the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) "request for testing" form by October 28. Students anywhere in the city who plan to apply to Mark Twain I.S. 239 for the Gifted and Talented and District 21 students who plan to apply to District 21 Talent Programs should submit a Mark Twain/District 21 request for testing form by October 28. Public school students can obtain a request for testing form from their elementary school, and non-public school students can visit one of the Department's borough enrollment offices to pick up a form.
