Nancy Faye Brooks
Nancy Faye Brooks, a longtime Rockaway resident, died September 6.
Brooks was born February 18, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from John Dewey High School and earned a Master's Degree at New York University where she then worked as Assistant Director of Student Activities until poor health forced her into retirement. She received a Programming and Leadership award from Brooklyn College. Brooks was proud of her African heritage and traveled extensively in Africa with her students.
Brooks is survived by two brothers, William (Butch) of Brooklyn, New York, and Allen Brooks; sister-in-law, Patricia of Alabama; sister, Sheila Vaughns; godson, Khalil Andrews; cousins, Renee Gaffney George, and Howard Thomas Gaffney; a host of cousins and family friend, Marjorie Cooper.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A memorial service was held by A. Barrett Funeral Services, Brooklyn, New York. Disposition took place at St. Michael's Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
