Thank You Animal Hospital

Dear Editor,

On Tuesday night, my dog was being walked on Shore Front Parkway by Beach 88 Street when her leash opened and she was struck by a car, the driver remains unknown because they did not stop. Seeing her, I thought she had died right then and there. My family and I had no idea what to do. We knew our dog, Shea, needed medical attention immediately! I had my phone in my hand about to dial 911, when I realized I can't call them about my dog. Who do you call or what do you do when your pet has an emergency in Rockaway?

Thank God my mother-in-law had the number to the Animal Hospital on Beach 114 Street and Beach Channel Drive, she called to let them know we had an injured dog and we were on our way. When we arrived, they took Shea immediately and began to examine her. My parents were in the room with her as my mother-in-law calmed me outside.

Everyone at the Animal Hospital was amazing. We are all so grateful for the care they gave Shea. They embraced us as soon as we walked through the doors and the entire staff waited until Shea was fully checked on, even though it was 10 minutes before they were all ready to leave for the evening. Though it felt like forever, a few minutes later the door to the exam room opened up and there was Shea, walking around. She was okay and going to make it! Although she sustained an injury to her paw, her eyes were bloody and she had bit her tongue, Shea is going to be okay.

The Animal Hospital should be acknowledged for their kindness and care while my entire family was in a huge panic! Thank you to the entire staff and if you have a pet I strongly advise that you keep their number, 474-0500, in your cell phones in case of an emergency!
