Hooray For 'Bring Your Parents To School Days
The staff at PS/MS 183Q were honored to celebrate their first "Bring Your Parents To School Days," on Septem - ber 29 and 30. Parents had the opportunity to attend school with their children. This open house allowed parents to meet the entire staff and to see a typical day at PS/MS 183Q.
The principal, Renee Peart, scheduled events for the parents that included Pre-K expectations, ARIS programming from grades four to eight; and "Spirituality For Kids," a program designed to help children address every day stress and confront those issues in a calm and fun manner. In addition, the high school counselor, Mrs. Efron, addressed the high-school applications, and the Reading First coach, discussed the Reading First Pro gram (grades K-3).
Staff members, including the Prin - cipal and assistant principals presented the curriculum in each class and the projects that the children would work on. The latest computer program for keeping records of each child, the ARIS program, was demonstrated for each family member if there are any questions regarding grades or attendance, this program makes it easy to obtain daily information.
In addition, "Cupcakes for a Cause," was spearheaded by Patricia Finn, assist ant principal, Shereen Emanuel, the SAPIS worker and promoted by the Parent Association. They helped the 8th grade sell cupcakes for children with cancer. Approximately $500 was raised for this charity and the school thanks the community for the support.
