On Thursday, September 15, the firefighters of Engine 257, Ladder 170 and Battalion 58, "Canarsie's Bravest" hosted the 8th Annual "A-Team" Memo rial 3-on-3 Basketball Tourna - ment at Riis Park, Gateway National Recreation Area.

The tournament is played in honor of Lt. Joseph Cavalieri, FF Christopher Bopp and FF James Bohan from Ladder 170, who made the ultimate sacrifice on December 18, 1998.

"Whenever Lt. Cavalieri worked he always said he had the 'A Team' working with him," said FF Kevin Roth, E- 257. "So we thought it was a great way to honor our brothers."

This year's tournament was host to over 50 teams from firehouses all over the five boroughs. The proceeds from the tournament go to the "A-Team" Memorial Fund which helps a high school student with tuition. The winner of the scholarship this year was Rockaway native Valynn Johnson.

The tournament would like to thank all the teams that came out and showed their support and made the event an enormous success. And the tournament would also like to thank Libation NYC and Bungalow Bar for their generous donations.
