BCAC Hang Tough In Loss To Visiting Glen Cove

The BCAC Midget Shamrocks battled tough in a defensive battle in their home opener before losing 12-0 to Glen Cove.

The BCAC Midgets offense would drive the ball down to Glen Cove's 18- yard line with great runs by RB Bryan Bostwick, RB Patrick Minihane, and RB Timmy McCabe. They were provided great blocking by offensive linemen Mike Henglein, Matt McCabe, Charlie Bostwick, Vincent Visconti and David Cancel. Wide Receivers Mike Reardon and Mike O'Reilly threw great blocks all game.

It was the Shamrocks defense who would shine as they held Glen Cove to under 100 yards rushing. Great plays were made by Steven Kenny, Andrew Visconti, Brendan Trudden, Vinny Cavanagh, Danny Clark and the rest of the Shamrocks defense.

The Shamrocks were down 6-0, but their offense exploded down the field and used up all of the time in the third quarter. BCAC got some great runs by QB Cameron Manzi, Minihane, McCabe and Bostwick. But they came up short in getting to the end zone as a fumble on Glen Cove's 12-yard line stopped their surge to the end zone.

Glen Cove increased their lead to 12- 0 in the fourth quarter, and the BCAC offense was denied once again from the end zone with 5 seconds left in the game.

The Shamrocks played like a bunch of young warriors as they fought till the end. The coaches were impressed with a much better game this week by the boys and expect greater things to come.

It was a packed Shamrocks Stadium and the organization would like to thank all parents, grandparents and friends who yelled for the team. The Shamrocks would also like to thank the cheerleaders for coming out and cheering for our team. They were great!
