Victory Gets Rockaway Rugby Back On Track
Right from the start of things Rockaway was looking to send a message to the rest of the league that last week's loss was a fluke. Rockaway controlled the first minute to the last as they defeated Brooklyn, 31-7.
The Fisheads showed no let down and after a week of fixing a few problems they looked poised and ready to play on Saturday.
With long scoring drives set up by Brendan Fritz and finished by Tommy Burns, Rockaway attacked from all areas of the field. With strong pack play by Uncle Pat Brady and New Zealander Greg, Rockaway controlled possession.
The back line was also very strong with hard hitting from Pete Hagerity and Mike Logano. Rockaway proved there are few weaknesses.
The one loss on the day came when Full Back Tyrone Sperling and scrum half Kemit came in second and third in the Taco eating contest. Though they looked very confident and prepared, the loss showed that eating 18 tacos in 15 minutes was not enough to win.
The Fisheads look to build on a successful season and take this momentum into the playoffs. The team always appreciates the support. The team travels on the road this weekend, and the following weekend Rockaway will return home to play in Fort Tilden.
