Wright Is Wrong
I attended a public forum sponsored by Edgemere Neighborhood Action Team (ENACT) on May 26, 2009, where I clearly presented my reason for not running in the 31st Council District.
Mr. Alex Wright's depiction of me, David R. Hooks Jr., accepting a "little dough" is libel. Mr. Wright is not, nor will he ever be, a confidant of mine and his truculent statements have impacted my entire family.
Councilman James Sanders Jr. has never offered or suggested I take money to not run for office. Mr. Sanders would not make such a disrespectful request to me. Mr. Wright and his trite diatribe continued to indicate that I am in collusion with Councilman James Sanders Jr. concerning money I have absolutely no knowledge of at all.
Mr. Wright, in your zeal to showcase your belligerent conduct towards others, you have yet to share contributions made by you to the citizens of the Rockaway peninsula. For example, maybe you helped the myriad of children on the peninsula that are on a waiting list for a seat in kindergarten; or their parents' and teachers' struggles with the New York City Department of Education; or are you addressing the high number of underemployed and unemployed individuals living on the peninsula? Oh my bad, dealing with real issues requires that you will have to "work well with others." Mr. Wright, in recognizing your limited knowledge of American history with slavery being a part thereof, I must inform you that "House Negroes" are of a lighter hue. Therefore, I would not qualify.
On behalf of Ronald A. Hooks, Desiree Hooks, and our children and grandchildren, we would appreciate that if in the future when you, Mr. Alex Wright, engage in slanderous behavior, you don't use the Hooks name.
I am wholly responsible for the content in this letter.
DAVID R. HOOKS JR.
