Public School/Middle School 105 Cleans The Beaches
PS/MS 105 participated in a community service day for the NYS Annual Beach Cleanup, on Saturday, September 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The goal of the program is to make people aware of the effects of marine debris on wildlife, habitats and humans.
For students, this was an enriching experience while developing their sense of responsibility as members of the community.
Thirty-one participants, including teachers Thomas Krieger, Mary Barnes and Norma Allende, and volunteers Ms. Sosa and Mr. Porto, met with site captain Marlen Waaijer at the Norton Basin, Michaelis Park and enjoyed a beautiful day while collecting bottles, bags, and other debris from the area.
Everybody is looking forward to next year's event, and many students are already offering their help.
