BCAC Pee Wee Shamrocks Lose To Bobcats
Last Sunday, the BCAC Green Pee Wee Shamrocks had their first road game of the year and took on their biggest opponents so far this year, the Plainedge Bobcats.
The game was the most physical these young Shamrocks played all year, but they never gave up and they fought the whole game. The first half saw the shamrocks come up empty in the endzone, but they never hung their heads. After an inspirational halftime speech by offensive coordinator Pete Ward, the Shamrocks came out fighting. Jack Allen scored two 60 yard touchdowns and Tyler Strika had one. Michael O'Connell and Joey Ianello each scored on a two-point conversion. None of this scoring would have been possible without great blocking, led by Ryan Hanning, Christian Pinnetta, Michael Boyle, Thomas Houck, Ryan Ehret and Gerard DeJesus.
The "Green Machine" Shamrocks were relentless on defense as well. Sebastian Frieberg, Aidan Clifford, Luke Jackowski, Nicco Finizio, Anthony Fiurry and David McCraken were a force to be reckoned with. Whenever the Broncos' offense was able to advance the ball they were forced to deal with Kevin Koestner.
Koestner made a goal line tackle to stop a touchdown and was hurt on the play. But he has the heart of a lion and begged to get back in the game.
When the Shamrocks walked off the field at the end of the game they were able to hold their heads high. The coaches were proud of every one of them. The next game is this Sunday out in Valley Stream at 9 a.m. Come on out and cheer them on if you can.
