Lucy, a Yorkshire terrier, was allegedly attacked by Rockaway resident Donnell Walters, on July 29, causing her to require surgery on a fractured right leg. A Rockaway man was tracked down through the social networking site, Facebook, and arrested last week in connection with the brutal beating of his boyfriend's dog, according to authorities.

The alleged incident occurred following a verbal dispute between Donnell Walters, 22 and Omar Koonce, 20, outside the couple's Beach 54 Street home on July 29, according to court police reports.

It is believed that Walters bought the four-and-a-half-pound Yorkshire terrier for his boyfriend as an engagement gift. However, he is accused of yanking the dog by the neck and slamming her against the stairs before throwing her to the ground. She suffered a fractured right tibia in the attack.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the four-year-old dog named Lucy, was forced to undergo surgery but experienced a full recovery.

ASPCA officials said they were able to find Walters by searching for his name on Facebook. The police were notified and arrested him last Friday at his Manhattan office. He has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
