BCAC Green Shamrocks Battle In Tie With Plainview

This past Saturday, the football season kicked off in a successful way for the BCAC Green Pee-Wee Shamrocks. The Shamrocks "Green Machine" defense started things off as they held Plainview to negative yards on their first possession of the game.

The tough defensive stance by the Shamrocks in the first series of plays set the tone for the rest of the game. Some of the shining stars on defense were Luke Jackowski, Sebastian Frieberg, Kevin Koestner, Ryan Hanning and Ryan Ehret. The first half was a defensive struggle, with the score tied 0-0 at the break.

Things got exciting in the second half as the break-out star Tyler Strika created a much needed spark. He had 86 yards rushing, including a 30-yard touchdown. Strika also contributed on defense with 6 tackles.

The Shamrocks also received help from returning quarterback Jack Allen, who had 52 yards rushing and Michael O'Connell gained 26 yards. The offensive line was strong throughout the game, led by Chris Kullmer, Nicco Finizio, Thomas Hock and Aiden Clifford. Time was running out late in the game when Plainview's running back broke out into the open field for what appeared would be an easy touchdown. But Joey Ianello dove across the field to make a game saving tackle as the game ended in a 6-6 tie.
