World Famous Mathematician Treated At PHC

Shakuntala Devi is generally known as the "Human Computer" because of her extraordinary talent in solving complex mathematic problems without any mechanical aid. She is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as an outstanding calculator prodigy from India.

Devi was recently hospitalized at Peninsula Hospital Center where she was treated for cardiac ailments by Dr. N. Hadpawat and Dr. J. Chakote. She said she was extremely pleased with the compassionate and expert care she received while at PHC from the doctors, nurses, and all other staff members. She was subsequently transferred to Lenox Hill Hospital for heart surgery and is currently recovering in her New York apartment.

Exceptionally accomplished in mathematics, Devi has authored ten books including: Figuring: The Joy of Numbers, Puzzles to Puzzle You, More Puzzles to Puzzle You, The Book of Numbers, Mathematical Ability: The Math Genius in Your Child. She has given shows in nearly every major city including London, Moscow and Paris, and is now busy establishing an international mathematical institute in her birthplace, Banglore, India.
