Rain Doesn't Dampen Tribute Park Ceremony
Although the rain poured down, dozens of local residents and family members gathered in Tribute Park at Beach 116 Street and Beach Channel Drive on Friday to remember those who died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The morning ceremony featured a reading of the names of all the locals who died that day and a flag-raising ceremony. Roses donated by 1-800 Flowers were placed in the central compass in the park for each of those who died. In the evening, the flag was lowered in a moving ceremony.
